Home Remodel Georgetown DC – Project Overview
The charm of this historic Georgetown condo was not lost on its new owners, as its potential was limitless. However, its vibrant character felt cramped, dark, and dated between a tight kitchen layout, small bathrooms, and heavy built-in shelving. So, this home remodel Georgetown DC project will transform an old condo into a bright and modern home.
Built in the 1940s, this 1,023 sq. ft. historic DC home was ready for a remodel that modernizes its layout & design. So, our DC home remodeling contractors’ goal was this:
Transform this historic property into a bright, functional, and contemporary retreat. Plus, preserve the charm and structure that make Georgetown homes so special.
What We Did – Home Remodel Georgetown DC
Our DC contractors completely reimagined this historic home with a full home remodel that includes:
- A New Kitchen
- New Bathrooms
- Living Room & Fireplace
- New Flooring
The Kitchen Remodel – Before vs. After

The original kitchen was a narrow 9×10 galley tucked behind walls that separated it from the rest of the home. Plus, the dining nook stood across the kitchen, surrounded by floor-to-ceiling built-ins, which were very limiting in everyday use. So, our team switched up the entire layout. Also, you can read more about another kitchen and bathroom remodel project here!
The former dining area was turned into the heart of the home with a spacious, modern kitchen designed for cooking and entertainment. So, our DC kitchen contractors installed:
- Semi-custom gray cabinetry
- MSI quartz countertops
- Waterfall island
- Full-height glass mosaic backsplash

The modernized kitchen now features many eye-catching elements. So, these include:
- A deep stainless steel farmhouse sink
- A built-in wine bar
- Under-cabinet LED lighting
- High-end appliances

Half Bathroom Remodel vs. Old Kitchen Space
The original cramped kitchen space was remodeled into a brand new, bold, and creative half bathroom with a laundry unit. Thus, this became our client’s favorite part of their home remodel. As such, the new half bath and laundry unit now reflect a statement design with balanced functionality. Plus, it features the following:
- Dramatic black-and-white patterned porcelain tiles
- Matte black fixtures
- A modern integrated sink
- Built-in washer & dryer unit

Living Room Remodel – Before vs. After

The old living room was bound by traditional built-ins that lined the walls and an old marble fireplace. Thus, our home remodeling contractors tore the built-ins down and created a clean, open space that flows directly into the new kitchen. Plus, the old fireplace was replaced with a sleek floor-to-ceiling black tile fireplace with an electric insert.
Then, the TV was mounted above the fireplace, acting as a striking modern focal point. Finally, the flooring was upgraded to a lighter MSI luxury vinyl plank flooring along the entire main level. Altogether, the living room now exudes creative visual continuity and brightness.
Full Bathroom Addition vs. Old Bedroom & Den

Downstairs, the old bedroom and den layout was reconfigured into a second bedroom or home office. Then, our home addition contractors added a new full bathroom, which features:
- Walk-in shower
- Porcelain tiles
- Modern Fixtures
So, our team maximized the condo’s living space and value with a full new bathroom, an upgraded bedroom, and a home office.
Home Remodel Georgetown DC – Final Result

The result is a magnificent blend of modern minimalism with funky, personality-driven touches. As such, the new grey cabinetry, bold tiles, and subtle black accents all added sophistication without a compromise on warmth. Plus, every element from the LED lighting to quartz countertops was chosen to elevate both the home’s aesthetic and its everyday comfort.
Our team of expert remodelers transformed a dated and compartmentalized condo into a cohesive and bright home. Thus, thoughtful design has proved that a space can feel both comfortable and functional. Therefore, from the new kitchen to the statement bathroom, every inch of this Georgetown gem now reflects our client’s vision and lifestyle.
